In Honduras the primary education system, grades first-sixth, is compulsory and free. However, according to published statistics only 32% of students receive their educational grounding without repeating grades. That means that 68% of the students who actually attend primary school have to repeat at least one grade.

Free is not really free. There are costs associated with even the primary education and those costs increase as the children continue on with middle and high school education. For many what is considered a high school education is not attainable because the upper grades, middle and high school, are not offered in their community, transportation is not available to wherever these grades are offered, and families can not afford the additional costs of transportation, food, uniforms, books and materials. This becomes even more of an impossible dream for most students who want to go to college.

So then what? This is where we can help fill the gap. We have introduced a scholarship program for a select few outstanding students who have the desire and aptitude but not the opportunity to continue their education at the college level with the hope to make a difference in their lives, families and communities.

Please prayerfully consider sponsoring one of our outstanding students. Sponsorship can include tuition, books and supplies, room, food and transportation. No amount of sponsorship is too small.
