Emilio Gutierrez grew up in a small community called San Francisco located in the mountains of western Honduras between the larger cities of La Esperanza and Gracias. He graduated from the university in San Pedro Sula in 1989, with a degree in nursing. Emilio came to La Campa to fulfill his residency requirements and continues today, serving as a nurse in the medical clinic in La Campa. His duties at the medical center include overseeing the child vaccination program for the entire region.
In 1997, his life changed forever when he became a follower of Jesus Christ, At that time, he dedicated his life to serving Jesus and has never looked back. One year later, he and three other families began to have evangelical church services in their home in La Campa for the first time ever in this community. Shortly thereafter, he became the pastor of the first evangelical church in La Campa called Torre Fuerte where he continues to serve as pastor.
The Lord gave him the vision and desire to preach the Word of God with the goal of making disciples. He continued to develop as a leader and realized that it was time to start visiting other communities to share the Word and help start new churches. The first churches were started in Jilgurapez and Monqueta. Over the years he has worked to start and develop five other churches in the surrounding communities. Under his leadership, Ministerio Torre Fuerte now has responsibility for a total of eight churches in and around La Campa.
In addition to all of this, he and his wife are the owners of a successful and growing convenience store and pharmacy in La Campa. Together they have raised four children, two sons and two daughters, and have three beautiful granddaughters.
