Jean Hines, Co-Founder of FHD Honduras & FHD Missions and Vice President FHD Honduras

Jean Hines, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, spent 30 years in industrial packaging before becoming a full-time missionary to Honduras.  Jean can’t play the piano or sing and sometimes struggles with the children’s crafts so she spends most of her days supporting her husband with the logistical demands of the ministry God has given them and managing day to day life.  After spending several years of her career in accounting she was convinced to consider a sales position.  Reluctantly Jean made the transition and learned quickly that her love for helping others and encouraging people was an asset for sales and she still got to play with numbers.

Jean made her first short-term mission trip to Honduras in 2009 and fell in love with the people and the country.  She left Honduras knowing that she wanted to return if that was part of God’s plan.  At that time she had no idea that six years later she would quit her job, sell or give away almost all that she had, leave family and friends and begin a new career serving God full-time.  Jean is thankful for the years of corporate training that are now being used for the glory of God whether managing VBS supplies, scheduling ministry events or planning team menus.  In her spare time she enjoys walks with husband Greg, spending time with family and friends, music, a good book and a blanket, a good snow, coffee and ice cream.

Jean currently serves as the liaison between Fundación Salud y Desarrollo Familiar para Honduras and FHD Missions, Inc.  Jean, and her husband, Greg, established these complementary non-profit organizations with the desire to meet people at their point of need and love them through their situation benefiting physical and spiritual growth, family, health and development of the people they serve in the communities of La Campa, Lempira.
