Dennis Mangum, Treasurer FHD Missions

Dennis Mangum is the owner of Crooked Creek Soap Company L.L.C., and a researcher for a commercial real estate firm in LaGrange, Kentucky. When he’s not creating soaps and lotions in his basement lab, he can be found scouring Google Earth and Google Maps for potential investments for his employer.

Before starting his soap company, Dennis spent thirty years teaching middle school science and math. During his tenure as an educator, he not only taught science and math, but also helped to develop the district’s middle school science curriculum, coached football, sponsored both the rocketry and environmental clubs, and led an annual service initiative known as the “Water Project”. This annual project culminated each year in the installation of water chlorination systems in developing countries where children were drinking biologically contaminated water. A graduate of the University of Louisville and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dennis is an avid U of L Cardinals fan and a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Dennis agreed to serve on the board of FHD Honduras because of the love he developed for the people and culture of Honduras as a result of many mission trips throughout the country over the past thirty years. He enjoys playing sports, hunting and fishing on his farm, playing guitar, and spending quality time with his wife Katy, daughter Lori, son Aaron, and daughter-in-law Shirley.
