Maria wants to live in a world filled with great healthcare that is available to everyone, where health education is a must, people can have their needs met, and live in peace.
As an M.D. with 14 years of experience, she's worked for several national and international nonprofit organizations as Consultant and Medical Director, including CEPROD, Population Fund of the United Nations, MEDICO, Legacy of Hope and as a Biology and Anatomy professor in a local university. She is currently the Executive Director of the Family, Health & Development Foundation for Honduras. She contributes to local causes that seek to provide better quality of health care to the Honduran Population.
She is currently serving her second term as President of the Comite Pro Ayuda al Hospital Juan Manuel Galvez, a private committee that serves as an oversight and advisory role to the leadership of the local hospital in Gracias, Lempira. She also volunteers with organizations that seek to protect and find loving and caring families for orphans and at risk children.
When she is not working or volunteering she is at home doing the most important job of all-being a godly woman, wife, and mother to Karina Abigail. Being the mom is the most difficult, but fun job she has. She enjoys meeting new people, helping in whatever ways she can, and eating chocolate and ice cream. She doesn’t like to take pictures and did not inherit her dads artistic talents, but, she did inherit her mom’s caring heart and uses that to be a blessing to all she meets.
