Rick Lucas, President FHD Missions

A native of Texas, Rick Lucas has resided in Westport, Kentucky for almost 45 years.  A minister of the Gospel by calling and training, he retired in order to continue following his passions as a volunteer.  Despite the length of time spent in Kentucky, Rick can’t shake his Texas roots and remains an unrepentant fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible and Philosophy from Hardin-Simmons University, of Abilene, Texas in 1974.  He completed his Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, of Louisville, Kentucky in 1977.

His pastoral ministry began in 1975 at Westport Baptist Church, Westport, Kentucky, a small town nestled alongside the Ohio River, just northeast of Louisville.  That ministry continued for almost 18 years.  At that point Rick resigned to begin serving as Director of Missions for Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association, the district organization for Southern Baptist Churches in Oldham and Trimble Counties, continuing to reside in Westport.

Since retiring some six years ago, Rick has invested himself in various ministries.  He heads up the local Baptist Builders, a group who volunteer their labor in construction ministry; and a partnership of local churches who conduct an annual mission trip to Honduras conducting health clinics, construction projects, evangelistic outreach, and ministry to children, youth, and women.  Additionally, he serves on a number of boards, chairing Good News Homes, which provides ministry to homeless of this area, and Foundation of Hope Food Ministry, providing food assistance to 800-900 high-need persons per month.  He also serves on the board of Tri-County Community Action Agency, the government-funded development agency serving Oldham, Trimble and Henry counties.

Most recently, Rick has agreed to serve on a part-time basis as Interim Director of Missions for Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association while the organization conducts a search for a future Director.  He looks forward to deepening his engagement in ministry in Honduras through serving on the board of FHD Missions in support of the Family Health & Development Foundation Honduras.
