Preparing For The Future-La Casa De Rubén

One of Jesus’ teaching methods was the use of parables, or stories, to illustrate and teach a particular point. In Matthew 25 Jesus told the story about 10 young women and a wedding. There were five young women who were ready at the right moment and five who weren’t. The five who were ready got to enjoy the wedding feast, the five who weren’t ready at the right time were excluded from the celebration.

Each of us will face our moment of death and none of us know when it will come. The Bible teaches that if we have prepared correctly we will enter into God’s glory. The Bible also teaches that if we have not made the necessary preparations we will enter into an eternity separated from Him, and I believe, from everyone and everything else-an eternity of isolation and suffering. This is the primary application of this parable.

However, this parable can teach us about being prepared in other ways.

For example, at the end of June we had an urgent need to get some projects done quickly to prepare for a family needing a place to stay for a short time. Most of these projects could have been done months ago. We didn’t think that the moment would come so suddenly so we chose to put off the projects. As a result it was a last minute scramble to get them done. Being more prepared would have been much better.

During this time of COVID-19 we’ve had to figure out how to maintain the ministry and projects that we already had going, but under new and strict limitations. Early on in the crisis we began looking for the new opportunities that God would bring to fill in for the lost opportunities; our hunger relief effort being one example.

This time of crisis will pass although the longer it goes on the harder it is to believe at times.

How do we get ready for life and ministry post COVID-19 crisis?

We had planned to be in the U.S. in May with the purpose being to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of La Casa De Rubén and to share all of the great things God has done there. The level of physical healing that Rubén and Rosalina have achieved is truly incredible. But more importantly are the improvements that are taking place in the hearts, minds and souls of everyone at La Casa De Rubén. We believe that God wants to use this place to continue doing this for many more.

Every ministry needs funding and it is no different for FHD Missions Honduras. We believe that so far God has only given us a glimpse of His greatness and that He has plans to do many more incredible things through FHD Missions Honduras and La Casa De Rubén. But it will take more hard work, much more prayer and even more generous giving.  In Matthew the Bible teaches that we have not because we ask not so we are going to be very clear about what we are asking.

While our food and supplies cost will go up with more guest patients we think we can host 2-4 more people per month without adding significantly to our current monthly budget and with the current capacity of the house. Our next goal is to be able to serve 8 patients per month. This will require us to finish the two bedrooms currently under construction and acquire more beds and furniture.

The biggest need at La Casa De Rubén is for more monthly donors. As little as $19 per day provides a comfortable private room, healthy meals, physical therapy, medical consultations, some limited medical care and unlimited love and care. Would you please pray about making a monthly commitment of any amount to help us continue to provide these services at La Casa De Rubén?

We have a business plan, detailed operating budget and certified financial statements for 2019 that we can share if you have any questions about how the funds are and will be used. If you would like to make a one-time or monthly donation to support daily operations of La Casa De Rubén you can do so here.

As many of you know La Casa De Rubén is located in a peaceful setting that in and of itself contributes significantly to the healing process. The house we have been renting has served us very well for over a year now. We have a land use plan demonstrating that the land is sufficiently large enough to accommodate many years of growth.

A huge part of our being ready for the future is to secure this home and property as the permanent location of La Casa De Rubén but we need your help.

If you are able, would you consider making a one-time capital donation to help us purchase this home and land? Our first goal is to raise $40,000 so that we can make the down payment requested by the owner. The second goal is then to raise the rest of the funds needed to outright purchase the home. The home will be owned by Family Health & Development Foundation Honduras with the sole purpose being to provide shelter and care for the injured and disabled while they receive healing therapies.

Would you pray about and consider making a capital donation to FHD Missions? If you are unable to donate to our capital program maybe you can share our story with someone you know who might be interested. Please contact us directly if you have any questions or would like to make a donation to help us with the purchase of the home.

We recognize that the needs for this ministry are great and the times are very challenging economically speaking. But we serve a great God and through our supporters He has been faithful to meet all of the needs. We can’t do this without each and every one of you. We are so grateful that you have chosen to be partners with us through your fervent prayers and generous giving. You are making a difference in the lives of people like Rubén and Rosalina. Blessings to you and your family.
